insignia Small Regimental Letter "M".
This U.S. Marine Corps letter was excavated in Petersburg, Virginia. Mike O'Donnell examined this artifact and states it is circa 1850's militia, and would have been worn on a dress Kepi. The attachment loop is intact, as shown in the picture.

print Framed print of Chesty Puller U.S.M.C.
Lieutenant General Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller (June 26, 1898 October 11, 1971) was a United States Marine Corps general officer and one of the most decorated members of the Marine Corps. He is one of only two men (and the only Marine) to be awarded five Navy Crosses. He fought guerrillas in Haiti and Nicaragua, and participated in battles of World War II and the Korean War. Puller retired from the Marine Corps in 1955 and spent the remainder of his life living in Virginia.

This 14mm cuff sized button was excavated in Central Virginia. It shows good detail with some gilt remaining. The shank is intact, though leaning to one side and the back mark is Horstmann Philadelphia.

buttons (22) Indian Wars U.S. Marine Buttons on the Original Card.
Somebody wrote "CW buttons/Hortsmann 1863"on the card, and we removed one to check the backmark and photograph it. The Hortsmann backmark actually dates to the 1870-1893 time period. Nevertheless, these beautiful pieces retain all their gilt and will display extremely well, whether on the card or separately.
